Meet Ellie: opening the assistant from anywhere
Ellie is your AI studio assistant. Here's how to open her, what she looks like on different devices, and what to expect from a conversation.

Ellie is your AI studio assistant — she knows your inventory, your recipes, and your craft. You can ask her questions, get creative ideas, look things up, and even make changes to your studio, all by chatting.
She's available from anywhere in the app.

How to open Ellie
On mobile, look for the purple Hi button in the bottom-right corner of any screen. Tap it and Ellie opens as a sheet from the bottom of the screen.
On desktop, the same Hi button floats in the bottom-right corner. Tap it and Ellie opens as a drawer on the right side of the screen — you can resize the drawer by dragging its left edge.
From the dashboard, the Ask Ellie for an idea button opens her directly with a creative prompt ready to go.
Handoff buttons
Several places in the app have buttons that open Ellie with context already loaded:
- "Feed this to Ellie" — appears on Inspire results and saved diary cards. Opens Ellie and sends your palette and technique notes as a starting prompt.
- "Open in Ellie" — appears on your shopping list. Opens Ellie with your gap colorants ready to discuss.
When you tap one of these, Ellie opens inline — the page doesn't change, and your context is waiting.
Your conversation stays open
Once you open Ellie, your chat persists for the session. Close the drawer, navigate to another page, and when you reopen her she'll be right where you left off.
To start a fresh conversation, tap + New in the Ellie header.
Chat history
Tap History in the Ellie header to browse past conversations. Each one shows the platform it was started from (🌐 web or 📱 mobile) and the date. Tap any conversation to reopen it.
What Ellie can do
Ellie can do a lot more than answer questions — she can look things up in your studio and make real changes. See What you can ask Ellie to do for the full picture.
Heads up: When Ellie makes a change — like adding a colorant to your pantry or updating a setting — it's a real change. She'll always tell you what she's about to do, but it's worth knowing she's not just a search box.
